A request to anyone who ran the Tavy 7 and used a GPS
device. We had the course officially measured so we are confident that
it was 7 miles down to the last centimetre! However, our course measurer,
Chris Marcol who also ran the race, would like to hear from anyone who
used a GPS to see what their device showed the distance to be. He would like
to study the range of distances to see how this technology compares to the
very precise measuring done by using a bicycle! Mail Chris at
chrisjanmarcol@btinternet.com.

The story of this year's Tavy 7, together with a
small collection of pictures taken by the Race Director's 11 year old
daughter, nicely summarises the day >>>.

Well! We are back although those who were there will
appreciate we had some difficulties, largely due to the wind. The gale that
came across the Walkham Valley played havoc with our facilities and we are
sorry that we could not provide the changing, baggage and registration
facilities we had planned.
-
But we did receive 413 entries in total with
380 crossing the finish line. Thank you all for coming and we do welcome any
feedback - come back direct through the CONTACT link to the
left or go to www.runnersworld.co.uk
where you can rate the race through their Events pages.
-
And, thank you also to all the Fun Runners who
seemed to enjoy their 1.5 mile off-roader. We are planning to publish the
names and times although that is likely to be later next week.
-
The race was run in memory of
one of the Tavy 7's greatest supporters, Martin Gibbs, who tragically
passed away earlier this year. A great big thank you to Martin's wife and
daughter, Tina and Holly, for doing the 'official business' of
presenting the prizes and starting both races in such great style.
-
We have raised £1250 for St Lukes Hospice
thanks to your wonderful generosity - thank you.
-
And, last but no means least a
massive thank you to our fabulous sponsors (all listed left),
Tavistock Lions, the two main landowners who provided the
parking area and our Race HQ location, Ambrosia for the hundreds of
flavoured custard pots which filled the goody bags and all those Tavistock AC club
members, their family and friends for doing such sterling work.
